Are you the enthusiastic, talented intern we’re looking for?
Crystal, an acronym for Critical System Engineering Acceleration, is a European subsidized joint undertaking that takes up the challenge to establish and push forward an Interoperability Specification (IOS) and a Reference Technology Platform (RTP) for model-driven development tooling as a European standard for safety-critical systems. In order to reach this goal, Crystal is driven by real-world industrial use cases from the automotive, aerospace, rail and health sector, with the support of engineering tool vendors.
Within this setting, Philips is offering an internship position for a student skilled in computer sciences or software engineering, who can assist in the development of software for a demonstrator and prototype that extends the functionality of one of its publically available engineering tools. The selection of the most appropriate tooling interface and programming environment can be part of the assignment.
•Interview relevant stakeholders and identify the main engineering requirements.
•Select the most appropriate implementation method, based on best practices from industry partners.
•Implement and test the adaptor prototype that acts as technology demonstrator.
•Present (and preferably demonstrate) your progress to relevant stakeholders at your project milestones

Philips Medical Systems is currently one of the leading supplier of imaging systems, healthcare informatics and related healthcare technology. The Business Unit (BU) Interventional X-Ray is responsible for the development of the X-Ray systems, used in corresponding imaging department of hospitals.
The BU is responsible for the system specification, design and architecture, for the development of a number of system parts and for the integration, verification and validation of the new developed system. The interventional workstation is a dedicated, high-performance product developed in the BU Interventional X-Ray by a multi-disciplinary team of engineers. The workstation extends the functionality of X-Ray Cardio/Vascular systems with the powerful capability of 3D X-Ray Interventional Tools.

•Duration: 3-6 months
•We prefer students able to start per August/September 2014
1. Students on work placement or final-year study assignment are paid a work placement or final-year study assignment allowance.
2. A student on a work placement or final-year study assignment is paid an allowance towards rented accommodation, depending on his/her situation. This will be determined setting up the Intern Contract.
3. A student on work placement or final-year study assignment who can prove that he/she is not entitled to a student card for public transport (OV-studentenkaart) is paid an allowance to cover the cost of travel between home and the place of work in accordance with the Conditions of Employment Guideline.
4. The student is entitled to paid leave on the basis of 1 day per month.

To be successful in this internship we are looking for you:
•Currently studying towards your Bachelor HBO (BICT) / University Bachelor in Sciences/Master in Sciences WO (Bsc./ in:
o Computer Sciences
o Engineering Software
o Software Technology
•Good understanding of Dutch and/or English
•Knowledge of the software development process
•Software engineering skills
