The overall mission of the NGO Niños de Guatemala (NDG) is to help build a better future for Guatemala. NDG aims to do this through providing Guatemalan disadvantaged children and adults with education and opportunities to develop themselves.
To achieve this NDG consists of 1) The School ́Nuestro Futuro’, in Ciudad Vieja, and the school ‘El Porvenir’ in San Lorenzo el Cubo 2) the Income Generation department in Antigua and 3) the NGO as the umbrella organization. One of the three values of NDG is self-sustainability. In order to accomplish this, NDG operates two commercial ventures: The Experience Guatemala Tour and Cambio Spanish School (www.cambiospanischschool.com), both donating all profits to the NGO. To continue its mission, the NGO is looking for a Social Business Manager.
Cambio Spanish School (Cambio) is a business start-up, initiated in the beginning of 2013 by NGO Niños de Guatemala, following the principles of profit-for-nonprofit. As a social business, Cambio aims to make a difference in the social development of low-income families in Guatemala as well as to provide the highest quality Spanish instruction available in Antigua. Through focusing on these objectives, Cambio aims to grow into one of the most important players among Spanish schools in Guatemala.
In addition, Niños de Guatemala operates a commercial venture called “Experience Guatemala Tour”. On this unique tour, tourists visit NDG schools, local businesses, and the community where most NDG children and their families live. The tour generates funding for NDG schools, and participants learn about social issues in Guatemala.
The Manager Social Business will be in charge of taking the existing organization of both Cambio Spanish School as well as The Experience Guatemala Tour into the next phase of development: professionalizing, strategizing and growing the business. In addition, the Manager Social Business will be responsible for the expansion of new social businesses initiated by Niños de Guatemala. The overall goal is to create the biggest and best-qualified commercial tourist hub in Antigua, which is known by all tourists visiting the city. The manager will be given a lot of freedom, with the opportunity to manage the businesses as if they were his/her own.
Please send your cover letter and CV before 15 December 2015 to firstname.lastname@example.org and include “Social Business Manager” in the subject field. Applications will be reviewed on an ongoing basis and candidates will be invited for an interview.
